A worthy history lesson

In a recent blogspot post (oakborn.blogspot.com/...), I touched on the deliberate hollowing out of our educational system with the downfall of critical thinking and civics education in our schools. The teaching of history has also been tainted by the Texas school board, and others, deciding for the rest of us what (and how) it is taught to our kids. The emphasis on white history with only the mention of African American history & Women’s history as footnotes to the great white American tale is rife.

One of my favorite Ken Burns documentaries is “Not For Ourselves Alone: The Story of Elizabeth Cady Stanton & Susan B. Anthony”.

I watched it again this week while home sick from work for inspiration in a very difficult election season… and as always, I come out tired by the end, but also hopeful that things can change. I think, in the light of the new email allegations that are mostly likely nothing and Sec. Comey’s interesting timing of his announcement, the message of Not For Ourselves Alone, along with Hillary’s slogan “Stronger Together” resonates strongly. We have to move forward, we have to do it together and it’s not for us as individuals, but for our entire country.

So I turned to art and creation, as I usually do… please distribute the logo freely and widely. I made it for all of us.
